Are you that doctor who wants to watch their patient walk out of your office with the perfect smile after 6 months of Invisalign™? We do to. Interproximal reduction is key in the process to make this happen. Spending the months and extra retainers to avoid simple IPR work is silly.
What Doctor wants to bring the bad news to their patient that they need yet another retainer when they could easily just pull a Magic Strip™ out of their drawer and make the necessary adjustments to avoid the need for one or possibly even two more retainers to make the same spacing.
The Magic Strip System allows for a controlled reduction instead of worrying about causing ledging. They also do not produce heat like a disc does or have sharp edges. Further they leave a smoother finish when done instead of having to go back and smooth your surface. Of course discs will last a lot longer than a strip will, however, you have to be careful when using them as they may cause ledging. Ledging can be avoided by using a Magic Strip first and then moving on to your disc when the gap is already created to get you to your desired size. Having a variety of discs at a variety of widths along with single and double-sided discs is an invaluable addition to your strip. A strip will be necessary when making a smaller space that a disc would not be able to manage.
When should you do IRP work on your patient?
Whenever you need to reduce the crowding of teeth up to 8mm or to increase stability by flattening contact surfaces. It is beneficial to use when working with a patient with mild to moderate crowding and to reduce the amount of expansion, proclination and extraction required. The other advantages that we see when doing IPR work rather than using the method of expanders is less relapse, more parallel roots and more stable contact points.
The Magic Strip System-
The tool to get your contact points opened and to give you that control you need. This color-coded system is colored for easy identification of the grit, just as any diamond bur is. These strips are offered in single sided, double sided, and serrated. All strips can be curved with the twist of the wheel making your job easy. You should not ledge or gouge the enamel if you use this product; it has a non cutting edge and is safe and reliable. The Magic Strip can open your contact point to over .3mm. Further benefits are that they are reusable as long as you follow the directions for sterilization. You can use the Magic Strips until they are dull as you would any diamond bur, once dull toss them and replace.
