Whether I presribe full-contour 3Y
zirconia, high-translucence 5Yzirconia, orglass ceramics, lalways get beautiful restorations out
ofthe case pan.
So, that is never where the problem is. The problem comes after we adjust the restoration to fit
into the patient's mouth. Sometimes we're left with an anatomy-less blob of ceramic that kind
of looks like a tooth. lt's OK; those things happen. But now when they do, I have a tool to fix it.
The OccluZinator Zirconia Adjuster/Sculptor and polishers can take that ceramic blob and make
it look beautiful again!
The OccluZinator is a bur block that comes with four burs, all designed to help you establish or
reestablish anatomy in ceramic restorations. These burs are all designed and manufactured
with the appropriate level of grit to work with these monolithic ceramic restorations.
The acorn shaped burs will carve new triangular and oblique ridges where none exist. The
patented angles of the acorns will generate panes that the x-mass tree will sharpen and
smooth. Starting with the large acorn (901R/PF) the major planes forming the cuspal inclines
are sculpted. Once these planes are formed the x-mass tree (825R /O29PF) is used to smooth
and sharpen the zenith lines that two adjacent planes form. Now that there is the beautiful
basic anatomical shape created, the small acorn (905R/PF) can be used to place secondary
anatomy. Both acorns have safe edges/ limit stops that prevent carving too deeply. Many of
you preferto shape the "bowl" or "stadium" shape of the marginal ridge area with an eggshaped
bur. For that purpose, the kit has the (379/023PF). Avoid using this bur on the triangular
ridge area of the cusps or oblique ridges as the convex shape will leave a concavity. Use all of
these burs at a moderate speed; 100,000 rpms maximum, with a copious water spray to keep
the ceramic cool.
Now that the burs have recreated the anatomy and the bite is comfortable, the final polish can
be accomplished with the Diacera twist wheels and points. The "twist wheels" come in a coarse
(DT-WL4DC) and a fine (DT-W14DCMF). The "wheels" will cover the broad area and high
a'Spects of the anatomy. The "points" will get into those deep aspects like the groves and the
secondary anatomic detail. They also come in coarse (W16DC) and fine (W1-6DCMF)to
complete the task.
Finally, a system that will allow us to "carve in planes" like we did with our wax patterns in
dental school. No more "Gullying" out occlusion with convex footballs that create concavities.
Planar anatomy done quickly.
