The
MagicGlide™ IPR Disc System delivers safe, precise, and efficient interproximal reduction while minimizing the risk of soft tissue injury
. A key principle when performing IPR is to allow the disc to sway from buccal lingual 10-12mm and glide gently between the teeth, never hold the disc stationary in one spot. This side-to-side movement ensures smooth enamel reduction, prevents heat buildup, and extends the life of the disc. Its specialized
MagicGlide HP E-Type Handpiece features a controlled 2–3 mm oscillating movement that allows the disc to glide smoothly between teeth for accurate and consistent enamel reduction.
Instruction:
- Start with MGD0.10 (Yellow Disc)
Begin with the 0.10 mm yellow disc to break contact. After inserting the disc, securely fasten the knob to ensure it is tight and stable. It is important to sway the disc side to side between the tooth
- Lubricate for Smooth Operation
Apply IPR Glide Syringe (SKU: ESIPR4ML1P) to reduce friction and ensure smooth contact separation.
- Set Proper Speed
Operate the MagicGlide Handpiece at 20,000–30,000 RPM for optimal performance.
Next Steps
- Progress sequentially through the MagicGlide Disc System—do not skip sizes.
Follow this order:
Yellow (0.10 mm) → Red (0.20 mm) → Blue (0.30 mm) → continue as needed until the desired spacing is achieved.
- Use the Strauss IPR Gauge (SKU: IPRGS) to verify accurate and consistent spacing throughout the procedure.
Important
Allow the disc to
glide naturally between the teeth.
Do
not force entry, forcing can cause excess vibration, reduce control, and lead to premature disc wear.
Although disc minimizes the risk of soft tissue injury, please use adequate retraction to protect the tissue.
